
Prospective Biology Students
Once accepted into UBC Science (click here for information on Applying to UBC), students apply to be placed in the Major of their choice at the end of Year One. Science Advising admits students into Year 2 Biology. Biology accepts new students from other programs into Year 3 directly. Admission to 2nd Year Biology
UBC Science runs a coordinated admissions process for second-year specializations. All eligible students must take part in this application process.
All Majors, Combined Majors, and a few second-year declarable Honours and Combined Honours specializations can be applied to via this application.
Admission to 3rd Year Biology & Honours
Biology has two application periods for admission into the 3rd Year Biology program – May and August.
May admission is open to students who have all their requirements for Year 3 in Biology completed by April.
August admission is open to students who complete all their requirements for Year 3 in Biology completed by August. More information below.
Transfer Students
Qualified students attending a post-secondary institution are welcome to apply for transfer to UBC.
Biology Minor
A Biology minor consists of 18 upper-level BIOL credits (i.e. 3xx or 4xx level courses) and the lower-level prerequisites required to take the upper-level courses.
