Transfer Students

  • Due to curricular differences among institutions some transfer students may not have the necessary requirement to apply for admission. If you appear to be missing a requirement please contact the Biology Office as soon as you have been admitted into the Faculty of Science.

  • Not all courses transfer as direct equivalents to UBC courses and maybe given only unspecified credit. Program advisors can often help apply these to your program.

  • When transferring from another university you may find that some 2nd year courses will be accepted as replacements for upper level courses. When replacing upper level credits with lower level credits you must make sure you still satisfy the 48 upper level requirement.

  • Transfer students with 8 credits of 1st year Biology with exemptions for BIOL 111 (or 112), 121 and 140 do not need to take BIOL 112 for their Biology degree. However, BIOL 112 or MICB 201 is required for subsequent courses in Microbiology (i.e. MICB 202, etc).

  • Transfer students with two terms of 2nd year chemistry with lab (eg. CHEM 203 & CHEM 204) are exempt from CHEM 205
